wire bashing

Wire bashing:

SFAM is a leader in metal wire forming. Our company deals with all metal wire bashing requirements on straight, 2D or 3D wires from the conception to the production.
Bashing is a metal working process called die forging that builds up the metal section at a precise point in order to give it a specific shape ( ex : exhaust pipe hook).
Indeed, bashing at the end of an axle can allow a travel stop, improves the part’s engagement in its lodging or bridles it.
This cold forming (ex: nail head) gives an important tensile strength compared to a machined head.

We are wired to your ideas!

SFAM is equipped with automatic bashing machines. From the wire bending many secondary operations can be made on straight, 2D or 3D wires.
Our know-how and high technology machinery makes it possible to bend and bash metal wire in different diameters ranging from Ø 0.2mm to 18 mm.
SFAM manufactures to your requirements convex, bended, folded, profiled wire.

Field applications:

Among the many features of these parts, here are some examples of the different type of bashed metal wire parts we can provide:

  • Nail heads
  • Anchoring devices
  • Cold heading axles
  • Exhaust hooks
  • Wheel axles
  • Rod bashed ends
  • Bashed hooks
  • Bashed hanging brackets
  • Anchoring axles
  • Custom made bashed wires

Wire section and materials used:

We can use round, half-round, square, flat metal wire sections for diameters going from Ø 0.2 to 18 mm.

Materials used include: C9D mild steel – S235 steel – galvanized mild steel – stainless steel (430 stainless steel, 304 stainless steel, 302 stainless steel, 316 food grade stainless steel) – steel spring – galvanized steel spring – aluminium – stainless steel spring – copper – brass – aluminium/zinc – Crapal – Benzinal – piano wire …
Other possibilities on demand…

Finishing and painting of metal parts:

We can ensure the finishing and painting of metal parts by our integrated epoxy and rilsan paint line : white zinc plating or zinc flake coating, powder coating, hot-dip galvanizing, chrome, electrolytic polishing, passivation…

Associated services:

Design and creation of tools + Checking fixtures
Unit control of the chamfering, deburring, edge breaking quality.

 Bashing processes:

Bashing is a pressing process that traps the wire and by the compression of the die forms a head or an extruded profile by the action of 3 jaws.
The metal wire bashing operation by die forging is one of the most used ones in the manufacturing of mechanical parts.
We refer to “nail head” bashing, when we talk about bashing of a nail head shape.
Nevertheless, major advances in the machines conception have permitted to obtain the bashing of a part directly, without any manual reworking.

Tip: Bashing is more economical because it allows to cold form a head instead of welding a washer or an axle.
